Katie Blineau

Unearthed Rentals

"Policies in your company will tell people what not to do and it is culture that tells people what to do. Policies limit behavior and culture drives behavior."

Adam Hirsch

Chrysalis LA

"We've been able to build successful businesses, not in spite of hiring people that are tough to hire, but because of it. And we really believe that our workforce and the life and lived experiences that they have is our competitive advantage. And you all in this room as employers have an opportunity to share in that competitive advantage as well."

Morgan Montgomery

Paisley & Jade Rentals

"So if they can see it, they'll rent it. And you want to remember, you want things to match your brand identity."

Allison Howell

RW Elephant

"Leading yourself takes willingness to change. Leading your event rental business and your team takes commitment to adaptation and becoming a learning organization."

Beth Helmsetter

Beth Helmstetter Events & The Good Beginning

"I think what really matters is coming back to the person you want to be in the world and not being afraid to bring it into your business and what you can do with that authenticity as far as attracting better clients and building your business."

Jeff Tanner

FLDWRK

"Every organizational strength and weakness flows from the leaders. Every organizational strength and weakness flows from you."

Jenika McDavitt

Psychology for Photographers

"So, really, the message of my talk is whether you are building relationships with people, whether you're using anchoring and useless pricing to help people get what they really want instead of what they are afraid of getting because of price, or if you're just talking to people to find out what their dining room tables are, if you make other people's lives easier, you will get more of what you want. That's it."

Lindsay Braun

Emblem

"I'm going to say it again, unzip some cushions and demand to know what's inside of the pieces you're buying. You're spending money on this. It's your livelihood. You deserve to know."

Sean Low

"Because getting people aligned with what you want to do and giving you permission to go to the next place is everything. Remember that."

Boss Lady at Unearthed Rentals

Katie Blineau

Katie Blineau is the Boss Lady behind Unearthed Rentals, the wedding-project-turned-business-venture she and her husband, Jovan, originally dreamt up in 2011 that has serviced thousands of events over the years. A future serial entrepreneur, she has a true passion to help those around her grow and thrive as great leaders, and she just happens to love designing beautiful spaces. Katie, and more specifically Unearthed, has been featured in national publications such as Martha Stewart Weddings and Style Me Pretty, and was more recently recognized in the Miami Herald for being one of the few dog-friendly workplaces in South Florida. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to work with brands like Red Bull, Sports Illustrated, and Google over the years and in 2016 Unearthed won the South Florida Business Excellence Award for Best Company Culture. Like most millennials, Katie has a bachelor’s degree that technically has nothing to do with what she is doing today (hers specifically is in Sociology from SUNY College at Buffalo), except that it was part of the journey that lead her here, for which she is grateful. She is also an April 2018 graduate of the 10,000 Small Businesses Program from Goldman Sachs. Now that she has 8 years experience of owning and running a company, Katie believes work-life balance doesn’t actually exist, and is still navigating through the crazy life of being a mom of two boys (Sawyer, 4 + Charlie, 1), wife, and business owner, while making an attempt at remembering that thing called self-care. She truly believes that surrounding herself with an amazing support system and a team who possess skills where she lacks is what gets her through each day.
